Democrats Unveil Latest Batch of Epstein Photos as DOJ Deadline Approaches
Committee
The House Oversight Committee has released a collection of roughly 70 images obtained from the property of deceased found guilty individual convicted of sex crimes Jeffrey Epstein.
This marks the third such publication from a larger collection of over 95,000 images the body has obtained from Epstein's estate. It contains images of quotes from the literary work Lolita inscribed across a woman's body, and redacted photos of women's international passports.
This release arrives mere hours before the 19th of December cut-off for the Justice Department to release all records associated with its inquiry into Epstein.
"These images bring up more questions about exactly what the Department of Justice has in its custody," stated the ranking member of the committee, Robert Garcia.
What is in the Photographs Released
Some of the photos released on Thursday show Epstein conversing with professor and activist Noam Chomsky aboard a private plane; Bill Gates seen beside a woman whose face is redacted; Steve Bannon sitting at a table opposite Epstein, and former Alphabet president Sergey Brin at a dinner event.
Committee
These are the newest wealthy, prominent men to be pictured in Epstein property photos published by the oversight panel - previously released pictures also depict US President Donald Trump and ex-president Bill Clinton, as well as film director Woody Allen, previous US Secretary of the Treasury Larry Summers, counsel Alan Dershowitz, Andrew Mountbatton-Windsor, and additional individuals.
Appearing in the photographs is is not considered indication of any wrongdoing, and several of the featured individuals have said they were in no way involved in Epstein's criminal activity.
In a statement issued alongside the photograph publication, Democratic members on the US House Oversight Committee noted the Epstein estate's representatives did not supply explanatory details or timeframes for the pictures.
"Photos were picked to provide the American people with openness into a typical cross-section of the images obtained from the estate, and to give insights into Epstein's circle and his profoundly disturbing activities," the announcement reads.

The release also contains several photographs of excerpts from the Vladimir Nabokov book Lolita inscribed in black ink across different parts of a female's body, including her torso, foot, hip, and back. Lolita recounts the story of a minor who was manipulated by a middle-aged literature professor.
One quote from the work written across a woman's upper body reads, "Lolita's name: the end of the tongue making a journey of three steps down the palate to land, at three, on the teeth".
There are also a series of photographs of female identification and identification documents from states worldwide, like Lithuania, Russia, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine.
Committee
A large portion of the details on the papers, including names and dates of birth, is obscured but the panel said in a press release that the passports are associated with "females whom Jeffrey Epstein and his co-conspirators were engaging".
An additional photograph depicts Epstein positioned at a workstation intimately in the company of three women whose features have been obscured - a first has her palm on Epstein's chest under his garment, and another is bending to view a close-by computer. Epstein seems to be aiding the third individual attach a piece of jewelry.
Investigative Body
An additional photograph released is a image of text messages from an unnamed person who states they have been provided "a number of girls" and are asking for "$1000 for each individual".
Photo Publication Comes Prior to DOJ Deadline
The panel has many thousands of images in its custody from the Epstein estate, which are "simultaneously explicit and ordinary," its announcement on recently noted.
The oversight panel first subpoenaed the holdings of Epstein, who died in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on charges of human trafficking, in August.
The photographs and documents the Epstein property submitted to the body are separate from what is often termed "the Epstein files". Those are records in the Department of Justice's control associated with its independent inquiry into Epstein.
Under the recently passed law, which the President signed into law recently, the DOJ has a deadline of 19 December to disclose its records. The full nature of what is found in the DOJ's records is unclear, and it's probable that much of the material will be significantly obscured, comparable to House Oversight Committee documents
