The British player reached the third round in three out of four Grand Slam events during the season.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has pulled out of her remaining competitions in 2025 because of a health issue she has been battling over the past 10 days.

The 22-year-old was scheduled to compete in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but has decided to fly home to regain her health ahead of launching next year's training.

These plans will involve her coach Francisco Roig, as the pair have agreed to work together in 2026.

She had her blood pressure taken while playing the initial match against Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and retired when losing 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

She again required medical attention at the Ningbo Open this week, where she fell in a three-set match to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.

Raducanu was also moving far from freely in the final set against Zhu owing to the lower back problem that has been a concern on several occasions in 2025.

These outcomes followed a positive campaign, in which she climbed into the world's top 30 for the first time in more than three years, finished with a trio of defeats.

Raducanu had three match points then was defeated by Pegula in round three in last month's Beijing event.

She secured 28 matches during 2025 and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami Open in March.

The British number one reached the quarter-finals of this WTA 1000 tournament, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way prior to a loss in three sets to fourth-ranked Pegula.

She was coached by Mark Petchey as coach from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in ahead of the US Open.

The initial agreement with the former trainer of Nadal was through the season's conclusion but the collaboration persists, with a training session scheduled for the end of the year.

She mentioned that a three-day test period alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

She came very close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati in August.

Roig joined her in New York, where she reached the third round prior to losing to 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
